Sean Toomey
Sean Toomey is a product design engineer, and co-founder of Team Human, a design and prototyping studio specialising in medical devices, consumer technology and advanced prototyping solutions. He has over a decade of experience delivering high-impact innovation projects, from early-stage concept development to manufacture-ready design.
Sean began his career as a Design Engineer at Dyson Ltd., working within the New Product Innovation team. There, he led the design of critical components for early-stage technologies, gaining deep experience in performance-driven design, iterative prototyping, and cross-functional collaboration. He went on to become CTO of a solar technology start-up, where he oversaw product development, IP strategy, and team leadership across multiple new technologies. In 2019, Sean co-founded Team Human, which delivers end-to-end product design, including R&D suites, prototyping, UX/UI development, and DFM support. The company has worked with multinationals, SMEs, and research institutions, with a focus on underserved clinical areas and impactful innovation. Sean is known for his hands-on approach, combining strong design, engineering and workshop skills with a strategic understanding of market and user needs. He holds a first-class honours BSc in Product Design from Dublin Institute of Technology and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and an MSc in Medical Device Design from NCAD.
