Sahar Avazzadeh is a research scientist and innovation leader with a PhD in Stem Cell Neuroscience and over a decade of experience across academic research, translational R&D and healthcare innovation. Her career has spanned neuroscience, cardiac electrophysiology, drug development and medical technology, with a strong focus on translating scientific discoveries into solutions that can make a meaningful difference for patients. Sahar worked across academia and industry, leading multidisciplinary R&D programmes and supporting technologies from early proof of concept through preclinical development, IP generation, regulatory planning and preparation for first-in-human studies.

Most recently, as Commercial Lead on an ARC Hub HealthTech project at the University of Galway, she led a needs-driven programme focused on identifying and developing solutions for cancer treatment-related toxicities. Her work involved extensive engagement with clinicians, patients and other healthcare stakeholders, alongside market assessment and commercialisation strategy development. Sahar is passionate about identifying important unmet clinical needs and bringing together science, engineering, clinical insight and commercial thinking to create impactful healthcare solutions. Outside of work, Sahar enjoys hiking, high-altitude trekking and outdoor adventures, and spends plenty of time being entertained by her little Cavachon.
