Ronan Benson holds an MSc in Medical Device Design from NCAD, Trinity College Dublin, and University College Dublin, and a first-class honours degree in Industrial Design from Sligo IT, where he was awarded the Governing Body Medal. He has over 15 years’ experience in the design and development of medical devices across a broad range of clinical areas.

He joins the BioInnovate Ireland programme with extensive experience in guiding products from early concept through to realisation and is motivated to further develop his ability to identify unmet clinical needs and embark on his own innovation journey. Ronan began his career in a small medical device consultancy in Dublin, where he supported clients such as Teleflex, Cook Medical, Vivasure, Vascular Solutions and the Cleveland Clinic.

During this time, he contributed to the development of a wide range of products, including aortic graft delivery systems, ERCP devices, large-bore vascular closure systems and drug delivery technologies, gaining strong experience in early-stage innovation and user-centred design. Most recently, Ronan has led multidisciplinary teams at Synecco, supporting clients such as Medtronic, Edwards Lifesciences, Siemens Healthineers, Cook Medical and Endowave. In this role, he has contributed to the development of complex medical devices across TAVR and TMVR delivery systems, vascular devices, endoscopy and a range of minimally invasive procedures.
