John has over 8 years of experience in the product and process development of Medical devices. Having graduated with a bachelor's degree in Mechatronic Engineering from Napier University Edinburgh, John spent a short period with Intel before moving to Advant Medical to pursue a career in the Medical device sector. During his time with Advant Medical, John has worked in the design and development of automated equipment for medical device assembly. He was also responsible for several technology transfers to Low Cost Countries. He worked on the product and process development of Class 1, 2 and 3 medical devices for both Multinational and Startup customers, progressing projects right the way through to commercialisation. In December 2015, John completed a specialist diploma in the Design for Medical Technologies at University of Limerick. With both a personal and professional interest in medical innovation, John feels that a user experience design approach, practiced during his time at University of Limerick will be fundamental in developing long lasting clinical solutions. John is looking forward to embracing the challenge of the Biodesign process, where he can be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team to identify and truly understand the clinical problem in order to reach a lasting solution. To do this, John will use a combination of skills, experience, integrity and principled entrepreneurship to bring value to his co-workers, customers and patients. In his spare time John enjoys cycling, weight training and catching up with family and friends.
